SheSails

Are you a female sailor at Gosford Sailing Club?

The Gosford Sailing Club Sailing Academy has a number of training and racing opportunities for female sailors looking to improve their skills, meet new people and enjoy their time out on the water.

During the month of May, Gosford holds a series of training sessions onboard Magic 25 Keelboats in preparation for the annual Gosford SheSails Regatta at the end of May. This is a great opportunity for female sailors to build experience and enjoy their time out on the water.

SheSails is designed to recognise all of the amazing female contributors to our sport, and to encourage women of all ages to enjoy sailing through organised activities at your local sailing club.

Whether you’re sailing for the first time, returning to the sport or are an active sailor there are a variety of social SheSails activities both on and off the water for you to get involved in.

SheSails aims to:

Promote
and celebrate women and girls participation in the sport of sailing.
Provide
new and existing female sailors with the opportunity to enjoy activities at their local sailing club with like-minded people.
Provide
clubs with visual materials and case studies to help grow female participation in recreational and competitive sailing.
Develop
a platform to feature female-focused events and programs across the country.

RC Yachts

At Gosford Sailing Club

Gosford Sailing Club Radio Controlled (RC) Yachts race on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month throughout the sailing season, October (from daylight savings) to April.

Racing commences from 17:00.

Arrive 30 mins early to allow for setting up and briefing.

Race Entry is open to GSC Sailing Members & GSC RC Sailing Members.

The Gosford RC Yacht Fleet class is the Dragon Force 65 with standard A rig.

The Dragon Force 65 is made by Joysway. There is a version 5 and a version 6 both being sailed together as a single class.

No local source of these boats have been found to date but they can be ordered online and have been arriving pretty quickly and efficiently from suppliers.

hobbywarehouse.com.au has been used by some club members successfully and there are other suppliers out there.

The boat comes as a kit and needs a bit of time and care on the rigging which can be fiddly to get just right.

The boat is available for about $250 including the radio gear required to get sailing. 8 AA batteries will be needed and some sort of sail identification - sail number.

Have a look at the accessories available from your chosen supplier for sail numbers, spare deck patches, etc.

For more information on the RC Yacht Fleet call Mark Ferguson on 0407 812 608 or email rcyachts@gossail.com.au.
